Aldo Londi designed Bitossi Rimini Blue Candlestick holder 1960s
Classic series of motifs that represent the 'Rimini 'pattern
Stencil impressed 'MADE IN ITALY' mark from the 1960s. The 'Rimini pattern irregular and hand applied around body of the clay whilst it was still pliable.
As with marks on all Italian pottery of the period there are no hard and fast rules for marks used by Bitossi. Some pieces are totally unmarked while others are simply impressed or painted 'ITALY' (A quote from Mark Hill's exceptional book 'Alla Moda' which I own and heartily recommend if you wish to improve your knowledge on the subject.)
Having checked all the Bitossi marks in Mr Hill's book I note that the mark 'MADE IN ITALY' is not present and thus corroborates Mr Hill's comments about marks used by Bitossi.
In good overall condition, the slightest loss of or Rimini glaze exposing the terracotta clay on and around the rim. Please view the photographs
