Conny Walther (1931 -) Denmark
Was a noted Danish mid-century ceramicist who worked for the famed Copenhagen factories of Saxbo and Kahler in the 1950s.
Started off at Saxbo Pottery working alongside Natalie Krebs but left after a year to study at the Arts and Crafts school in Copenhagen.
She then set up her own studio in Birkerod in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen.
This early earthenware studio pot has all the hallmarks of Conny’s signature style and consists of high fired earthenware simply decorated with a thick glossy glaze of greys, green and near black. The drips near the base still intact over a natural foot. 1960s.
Impressed with ‘CW’ signature to the base.
A particularly fine example of her work
